They will boost up higher and higher until it bumps into the power, thermal, or frequency limits. 19 Posted October 24, 2022 I'm having a confusion about idle temperatures on my Ryzen 7 5700g. They are running from 40C to 55C. If I'm doing nothing, and load is 0% on all cores, temperature drops to 40C. But if I use Chrome and Discord at the moment, they ramp up to 55C. What's the ideal point for that? I use it with it's stock cooler on a Gigabyte B550M-H. It's in an old case with two "little" fans (front and back, I think they're 92mm). The safe Ryzen 3600 temperature range is 40C to 75C or 104F to 203F. Keeping yourRyzen 3600 at the lower end of the temperature is going to be the best bet for most people. When it is idle, it absolutely should be on the lower end of that value. The higher it is when it is idle, the higher it will be when it is under a heavy load such as gaming. 5800X was thermally the worst Zen 3 CPU. 5800X3D has even worse thermals. Expect straight to 90C for most all-core workloads. There is no comparing to other Ryzen 5000 CPUs (Ryzen 7000 maybe). Water isn't guaranteed to help, especially without a newer block made with these CPUs in mind (Optimus, TechN, Velocity2). ….

Motherboard maker monitor apps use more resources than say HWInfo does. My 3700xt idles at 35-40c, up to 74-76c under load. And this is an allcore o/c @ 4.3ghz with a 1.256 undervolt. Gigibyte's SIV (monitor software & fan control) software will have the cpu hit 48-49c when open, where HWInfo will see below 40c.
