Claymore demon
The Greatsword and Great Axe are very slow, and harder to use. They also have high stat requirements. The Claymore is nice because it has lower stat requirements, and Faith builds don't want to put too much into unnecessary stats. Greatsword and Great Axe are really best suited for Strength builds in my opinion. It starts at +3 on some weapon types (including straight swords like the claymore) and +0 on other weapon types (such as 1-handed blunt hammers), unless that has changed in the remake for consistency's sake.

The Flamberge in Demon's Souls is more historically accurate. They were very similar to Zweihanders, which literally means two handed sword.
